Out With the Rock Hard Bumper, In with a DV8

Well this was a tough choice that took all of about 3 days to make. I decided the original Jeep Hard Rock factory bumpers were not going to hang around. I decided to add a DV8 Rear Bumper with a swing out tire carrier. This meant taking off the spare and removing the original tire carrier from the tailgate. Note to self… a 35 inch tire is a bit heavy! After the tire and carrier were out of the way I took off the factory tow bracket and then removed the rear bumper. Since the new bumper is 3/16″ plate steel, making it pretty heavy, I used a transmission jack to help hold it in place while I bolted it in place. The swing out was a separate piece so that went on next. After some time getting the swing out parallel with the tailgate I put the spare tire back on. I wish I had a video of this!!! That tire was not fun to put on that mount.
