The Jeep was purchased with an aftermarket stereo that left a little to the imagination. The head unit was a popular brand in the Jeep world, but I had never heard of it. It had navigation which had to be updated via SD card, and the maps were several years behind. It did not have Sirius XM – boo. The sound was less than adequate and very difficult to EQ. The speakers in the Jeep were still stock which didn’t help matters at all.
The replacements were mapped out to continue to use the stock sub enclosure and an upgraded 8 inch Fosgate sub pushed by a 250 watt mono block amp. The head unit I chose was the Pioneer AVH-NEX4100 because it had a removable face with all types of great features. For the dash and sound bar speakers I chose Infinity 6.5 inch 6032cf. After a couple of days of install work and tidying up the Jeep was sounding better!
The Pioneer head unit kept the aftermarket backup camera working just fine. The EQ in the head unit was great with the available channel crossovers. All-in-all a decent modification.
