Let’s Try This Stereo Thing Again

In June I had a great idea to run some Infinity speakers in the Jeep. Turns out it wasn’t such a great idea – they suck. This time around we will be going with a marine grade Polk Audio product for the dash and soundbar. The dash speakers will be going back to the component separates while the soundbar will use coaxial speakers. The models chosen are the DXi6501 separates for the front, and the DXi651 for the back. The swap required me to make a small bracket to support the Polk tweeter in the dash since it is has a smaller housing and will not attach to the factory tweeter pod. I used a small piece of a aluminum for a spanner that I drilled and tapped, and used a screw to mount the new tweeter housing to the spanner. It locked down nicely and does not move around. Since I got a ton of practice removing the dash speakers to install the Infinity junk, I was able to make the speaker change rather quick this time. After firing up the new system I was way more than impressed. The tone range was amazing and the volume was considerably louder. I think we are finally on to something now. One other add-on to help the sound was Rockford Fosgate R1-2X10 sub enclosure. This was hooked up to the 500 watt monoblack Fosgate amp that I installed earlier in the summer. Finally, stereo sound while topless and doorless!
