Rough Country Differential Skids

I decided that I wanted to be able to protect the differential housing with a skid plate of some sort. This topic has been debated ad nauseam with differing opinions from each person you speak with. Some say it is not needed. Some say it helps. I decided I wanted the protection. I went with the Rough Country skids for my Dana 44 axles. One of the interesting things I ran into was the rear skid was produced and fabricated specifically to perfectly fit the factory D44 housing cover. Problem, I don’t have a factory cover. I have the G2 hammer aluminum cover because it was free when I purchased my gears and install kits last summer. In order for the Rough Country skid to fit the G2 cover I had to grind out the cooling fin profile in the skid to mirror the diff cover. Once I was pleased with the fit I sent the skids off to be powder coated at Top Koat in Kennedale, Texas. Got the skids back a few days later and installed them for a pretty sweet look.
