When I bought the Jeep it already had really cool looking rock sliders that I had not ever seen, and have had trouble finding where they came from. My guess is they were an eBay score. While wheeling in Utah and Texas it was quickly becoming apparent that the really cool rock rails could not withstand the 6000 pound Jeep slamming down on them without bending and crying for mercy. It was a trip to Bridgeport OHV Park that finally did them in. I bent the passenger side rock rail up so far that it was close to keeping the front door from opening. Time for a change.
I contacted my buddy Cal at CK Customs in Ennis, Texas and told him what had happened. I inquired about beefing up the tubing to prevent the Jeep from mangling the pipe shape while rock sledding. We got the Jeep in the shop and talked a little about the design. I left the Jeep with Cal and his welder, Mike, so they could apply their talents and craft. I was contacted a day or so later and told the rails were almost complete, so it was only right of me to change the design. Ha! The change was minor and fit with what was already being accomplished with the rail design. Got the call that the Jeep was complete and ready to go. Once again CK Customs has gone above and beyond on a simple task and blown me out of the water with work and craftsmanship! Same design as before, but these aren’t gonna bend!
