The goal for the day was to get the engine removed from the Jeep. Most of the wrenching and disconnecting were completed on day three. I got the engine lift out of storage and placed it where I thought it would be a good lifting point. Well, it was going to have to work since the crash bar on the front bumper stopped the lift from going any closer. After I got the leveler in place I came up two links short on the rear anchor points, so off to Tractor Supply to grab some more chain. With the longer chain in hand, we are ready.
Engine weight was lifted and motor mount bolts were removed. The cast-iron engine side brackets are huge on the 3.6 so I opted to remove at least the driver side engine mount bracket to make more room to slide the engine forward. The leveler did its job and allowed the engine to walk right over the frame supports until… I forgot to unhook the fuel lines from the tank – oops. I rolled the engine back a little and unhooked the fuel lines. After that, the engine slid right out. Time for some cleaning and detailing while I wait for mounts and harness.
