LT Swap – Prep Day 5

Several days have passed with the Jeep in the garage with very small tasks being completed. I was able to clean quite a bit of the engine compartment to get ready for the amount of work to do. Yesterday I received several packages from RPM Extreme which included the radiator, wiring harness, motor mounts, transmission shift bracket, air intake, fuel line, radiator reservoir, AC lines, and several other small parts.

Tonight I finished my regular work and had enough desire to go out and cut the 3.6 motor mounts off the frame. Not a tough job, but really dirty. I cut through the tops of the mounts and scored the rest of the welds then used a hammer to knock the brackets off the frame. With the bracket gone and weld lines exposed I used a grinder and flap wheel to clean the rest of the crud off the frame. The frame is now ready to measure and mark the location for new motor mounts!

High school soccer season is underway and I am refereeing quite a few soccer matches. This will significantly slow down the rest of the build. I will plan and execute in small portions, so stay tuned.
